The Migrant Graduation Specialist (MGS) or Migrant Student Advocate (MSA) is a special position funded at the local level by the Title I, Part C, Migrant Education Program. These positions were officially established and accessible through OSPI iGrant system in 2009-10.
Staff typically will work in a middle and/or high school, with staff, parents, students, and the community to ensure that:
services in the building are accessible to migrant students, support in the home, school and community is evident, a strong relationship amongst all stakeholders is nurtured, and students set goals, improve academic performance, graduate and plan postsecondary success.

Funding levels:
Either position must be funded at .25 FTE or more.
MGS works with a caseload of Priority for Service (PFS) migrant students at 1 FTE:50 students. Unique aspect of the MGS: Degreed, highly qualified. Self initiates; works with counselors on academic guidance and credit accrual in addition to all other Migrant Student Advocate duties. See job description.
